Our 2021 Walk Run for Scleroderma Goes Virtual http://www.sclerodermaatlantic.ca
What is the Virtual Walk Run in the Park for Scleroderma?
June is Scleroderma Awareness Month and June 29th is World Scleroderma Day.
Every June, the Annual Walk Run in the Park for Scleroderma campaign is held across Canada to increase public awareness for this disease. This event raises funds for patient support programs and research toward treatments and a cure.
Due to current Covid 19 restrictions we have decided to go ahead with our annual awareness campaign in a virtual capacity this year. Participants are being asked to register and step out – or stay in – to walk, run, or just get moving for scleroderma while following Covid 19 safety protocols.
What is Scleroderma?
Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease that is life altering, life threatening, and has no cure. This rare disease affects approximately 40,000 people in Canada.
Scleroderma in its most serious systemic form may not only affect the skin, joints and muscles, but also seriously damage the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, heart, and / or kidneys.
Who is Scleroderma Atlantic?
Scleroderma Atlantic is a grassroots organization, committed to enhancing the lives of those living with scleroderma in the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador. Scleroderma Atlantic raises public awareness, provides education, advocates for patient wellness, and supports vital research for effective treatments and a cure.
