The Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island (CFPEI) is an incorporated, non-profit organization that provides a ‘user-friendly’ vehicle for donors to create endowment funds to support charitable activities. Income generated from these investments is directed through grants and scholarships to support a wide range of diverse needs in Prince Edward Island communities. Because of the permanent nature of these endowments, income is available for now and generations to come.

The endowment fund allows the donor to leave a memorial legacy to meet their charitable interests in perpetuity, at minimum cost and maximum convenience. Since its incorporation, the Foundation has worked with donors to establish more than 70 endowment funds; these funds now have a current asset base of over 9 million dollars.

This asset base has allowed the Foundation to grant over 2.5 million dollars to worthy community projects and individual scholarships since 1993. In addition to providing a vehicle for donors to create endowments, the Foundation also has a broader community building and leadership role. Some examples of initiatives undertaken by the Foundation in this role include: the Arts and Heritage Stabilization Program; the ‘Building the Capacity of PEI’s Third Sector’ Report; and the Vital Signs Report ‘Taking the Pulse of Island Youth’.
<h3>How we are unique</h3>
The Foundation is unique in several ways:
<ul>
<li>We are donor focused; each endowment fund is customized to respond to the interests and needs of the donor.</li>
<li>We are flexible; if the donor interests change over time, the parameters governing the endowment fund can be modified to reflect these new needs.</li>
<li>Our interests and focus are broad; we have the capacity to respond to and support a wide range of donor and community interests.</li>
<li>We are a registered charity; we can issue tax receipts for endowments and donations, including tax receipts for donations from US citizens.</li>
</ul>
Note: Internal Revenue Service (IRS) receipts are of benefit in certain circumstances; US citizens considering making donations should consult with a US tax planner.
<h3>Who can benefit</h3>
The Foundation can be of benefit to:
<ul>
<li>Individuals who wish to honour someone’s legacy by setting up an endowment fund; the fund could be to honour the memory of a family member, or recognize someone who has made a important contribution to his/her community.</li>
<li>Community groups, organizations, and businesses who have a passion about an issue or concern, or a particular area within the Island community.</li>
<li>Professional groups and service providers such as lawyers, financial planners, advisors, and accountants who offer estate planning, tax planning, and financial investment services. The Foundation may be an appropriate vehicle to help clients achieve their financial investment, tax planning, and estate planning goals.</li>
<li>Various levels of governments who find themselves acting as trustees or ‘hosts’ for particular trust or endowment funds; or who wish to recognize the work of a citizen who has made a special contribution to particular initiative, or who has made a significant contribution toward enhancing the quality of life within their own, or the Island, community.</li>

Community Legal Information Association of PEI Inc., often called CLIA, is a registered charity that has been in operation since 1985. We provide information, referrals, and support to Islanders on legal issues. Our goal is to provide Islanders with understandable and useful information about our laws and the justice system. Public Legal Education and Information (PLEI) is a discipline that uses clear language to inform and educate the public about Canadian laws and the legal system.

At the Connelly Laboratory for Organizational Behaviour Research, we study how workplaces are changing and how employees are reacting to these changes. We focus on workers who are often overlooked: part-time workers, independent contractors, “temps”, mobile workers, temporary foreign workers and workers with disabilities.

The Cornwall & Area Watershed Group is a community-based group whose goal is to enhance the water quality and health of our local waterways, to restore and protect wildlife habitats, and to improve active living through increased recreational opportunities.

Our group includes community residents, farmers, landowners, and government in collaborative watershed planning and active support for environmental stewardship.

Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is the only national, volunteer-based charity focused on finding the cures for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the lives of children and adults affected by these diseases.

We are one of the top two health charity funders of Crohn’s and colitis research in the world, investing over $130 million in research since 1974, leading to important breakthroughs in genetics, gut microbes, inflammation and cell repair as well as laying the groundwork for new and better treatments.

We are transforming the lives of people affected by Crohn’s and colitis (the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease) through research, patient programs, advocacy, and awareness.

We conserve, restore and manage wetlands and grasslands to benefit waterfowl, wildlife and people. The EMC TeleHealth Patient and Family Advisory Committee is committed to providing excellent care for the patients and families of our communities. We are looking for Patient and Family Advisors to provide input to our TeleHealth Services.

We are seeking 2-4 community-minded individuals to bring a patient and/or family/caregiver point of view and voice. No special knowledge or skills are needed. The ideal person is someone who can use their experience as a patient or family member/caregiver to help shape the care we provide.

Earth Rangers is an environmental non-profit that empowers youth to take action for the environment. Our ER Teens program offers an opportunity for young Canadians aged 13-18 to take initiative for environmental causes they care about, such as wildlife conservation, climate change, sustainability, and more. By working remotely with staff, teens volunteer their time to complete an eco-action project of their choice; at home, at school, in their community, or online. Our flexible program ensures that teens can work at their own pace, while having the support and resources they need to make a positive impact.

The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) shines a spotlight on the regions’ music industry, preserving and promoting East Coast talent at home and around the world. <Every year the Association hosts The East Coast Music Awards: Festival and Conference (ECMA's), a five-day, non-stop musical celebration showcasing and recognizing the best of East Coast artists and music.

ElderDog Canada is a federally incorporated, community-based, non-profit and
registered charity.

Our primary goal is to enable older adults, living at home and with challenges
affecting dog care, to continue to benefit from their relationship with their canine
companions as long as possible.

A second major goal is to find new or temporary homes for dogs left behind by seniors, who
must move into a retirement community or nursing home, become ill, or pass away.

ElderDog has chapters (or Pawds, as we call them) in communities across
Canada - including PEI!

Mission Statement

Our mission is:

- To provide services for domestic animals in the event of emergencies and disasters.
- To train volunteers to provide rescue and emergency shelter for domestic animals when responding during emergencies and disasters.
- To raise funds for supplies, medical treatment for animals, training costs and expenses incurred by volunteers during emergencies and disasters.

ECOPEI is a registered charitable environmental organization.  We work on a variety of issues, everything for agriculture to energy.  Our main effort is around our Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project, where we teach children and adults about nature, grow plants native to this region, and promote better forest practices.
