The Tetra Society’s mission: “Tetra builds innovative solutions for people with disabilities to overcome environmental barriers, providing greater independence, quality of life, and inclusion”. The Tetra community service model is simple - we match skilled Maritime volunteers with local residents with a disability to design, build and install a custom assistive device that gives them great independence in their life. Tetra utilizes the skills of the local community in providing a much-needed service to some of the region’s most vulnerable population. These custom devices improve the independence, health and happiness of the client and improves the well-being of the community.

Shelter Movers

Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence. Every year, in collaboration with community partners, our volunteer teams contribute over 31,000 hours to support people transitioning to lives free of violence and abuse. Volunteering at Shelter Movers means contributing to a mission that will make a meaningful impact on families experiencing abuse and supporting survivors as they transition to a life free of violence. It also means playing a tangible role in breaking the cycle of gender-based violence in Canada. We are growing and looking to add caring, compassionate, and dependable people to our team.

Seniors Bridge to Friendship

We run four three hour duplicate bridge games each week at the Murphy Community Centre. We offer a guaranteed partner, so no one goes home Participants receive their results the same day and any master points they are awarded Games: Mon: 1:00pm, Tues: 7:00pm, Thur: 7:00pm (social game), Sat: 7:00pm.

St. John Ambulance NS & PEI

  St. John Ambulance volunteers provide over a million hours of volunteer service to Canadian communities each year. Our nationally-recognized core community service programs include: Therapy Dog Program-  Volunteers and their dogs provide regular visitation to hospitals, seniors' residences, nursing homes, or a growing number of institutions on a regular basis. Through petting, affection, and consistent visitation, many people benefit both physically and emotionally from the unconditional love of a dog. Volunteers and their dogs go through an evaluation to ensure they are a comfortable visiting in these environments. Volunteer Medical Responders (VMR)- are a group of uniformed individuals trained to a minimum of Standard First Aid, who volunteer their time to provide First Aid services at a wide variety of public events (sporting, cultural, musical, etc.). By being there, SJA volunteers are “first on the scene” in the critical minutes until medical assistance arrives. Emergency Medical Care Inc. has made a commitment to involve citizens in establishing priorities and making decisions that matter to them and impact their lives, our community and the sustainability of our health care system. The EMC TeleHealth Patient and Family Advisory Committee is committed to providing excellent care for the patients and families of our communities. We are looking for Patient and Family Advisors to provide input to our TeleHealth Services. We are seeking 2-4 community-minded individuals to bring a patient and/or family/caregiver point of view and voice. No special knowledge or skills are needed. The ideal person is someone who can use their experience as a patient or family member/caregiver to help shape the care we provide.

Friends of Eastern Kings Heritage Inc.

Misson Statement The Friends of Eastern Kings Heritage Inc. (Friends) is a non-profit organization committed to providing and supporting cultural tourism attractions in the Eastern Kings area by operating the East Point Lighthouse and supporting the Elmira Railway Museum. The Friends own the East Point Lighthouse which is "Canada's Confederation Lighthouse". It is the only Lighthouse built in 1867 that is still standing and operating. The Friends are the non-profit Board for the Elmira Railway Museum, who provides support to the PEI Museum and Heritage. The vision of Friends of Eastern Kings Heritage Inc. is to be community leaders in supporting cultural tourism by preserving and sharing local heritage
