The PEI Farm Centre is a non-profit organization that exists to provide space and resources for urban and rural communities. The primary activities of the Centre have evolved over the past 50 years. What began as a facility offering office space to commodity groups and meeting rooms for community events has expanded to become a strategic food hub and therapeutic health centre. Our central location in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, includes a large facility and the largest urban food garden in Canada where people come together to learn, support, and promote the health and well-being of our communities by furthering a better understanding and exchange of views between agricultural, urban, and industrial groups and organizations. In 2014, the Legacy Garden was created on the land immediately behind the Farm Centre. The Garden has grown to become one of the largest urban farms in Canada with over 200 community garden allotments that are rented to community members so they have gardening space to grow their own food, a community food forest and a goodwill garden from which we donate, on average, over 20,000 pounds of food each year to various charities in order to help alleviate food insecurity to the most vulnerable people in our society. We want to do our part to make the community of Charlottetown and Prince Edward Island a more welcoming, inclusive and well-fed place! The Shoebox Project for Women is proudly a national registered Canadian charity with volunteer run chapters in every province across Canada. Our mission is to uplift and empower women who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness through in-kind support, education, and community participation. Our Approach: We build compassionate and connected communities Through volunteer-led gift drives that benefit women who are
impacted by homelessness. We support women and gender-diverse people facing
income inequality ‍By distributing essentials of daily living to shelters and
community agencies. We challenge stigmas, fight discrimination, and promote equity ‍By building awareness and educating youth. What is a Shoebox Gift? A personally crafted gift that contains a mix of essential everyday items and small luxuries that you or any woman would love! Daily Essentials support her to take care of her personal hygiene, helping her feel confident, valued, and improving her self-worth Little Luxuries inspire self-expression and honor her uniqueness, helping her feel special, seen, and empowered to thrive. A Personal Handwritten Message of Support delivers a heartfelt message from her own community, providing a sense of belonging and resilience.

Building GRAND-Families Inc. is a Prince Edward Island nonprofit organization supporting grandparents, great-grandparents, relatives and other kinship caregivers who are raising children when parents are unable to do so. We help grandfamilies navigate the unique emotional, financial, legal and practical challenges that can come with kinship caregiving. Our work includes peer support, caregiver education, family activities, resource navigation, advocacy and connections to community services. Building GRAND-Families also works to increase awareness of the needs of kinship families and to strengthen the network of support available to caregivers and the children in their care across Prince Edward Island. Volunteers, community partners and supporters play an important role in helping us create stronger, more connected grandfamilies.
