Trout River Environmental Committee works to restore and conserve the natural integrity of our nine watersheds, and to promote good environmental stewardship. We operate in the Stanley Bridge to Cavendish area of North Central Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Founded in 1993, TREC was incorporated in 1999. Currently, TREC undertakes a range of activities including integrated watershed management, community engagement, and environmental education. TREC is very much a community led group, and we support local farmers, landowners, residents, businesses, and fishers.

We are a registered charity, managed by a volunteer board of directors. We employ an Executive Director to manage day-to-day operations, a Project Manager, and students during the summer. To contact the Executive Director, Shayla Steinhoff, e-mail director@troutriverec.ca

Volunteer Tree Planting Day

Trout River Environmental Committee would like to invite you to our upcoming volunteer tree planting day, Saturday, October 24th from 10am-2pm.Here are all of the details, please follow along for updates on our events page! https://www.facebook.com/share/19ZAS3pmBT/We are planning to plant roughly 80 larger trees at this event (7-10ft) and are looking for a large group of volunteers to get the job done!We will be meeting at the Stanley Bridge WI Hall, 4697 St Marys Rd, Stanley Bridge, and driving to the Schoolhouse lane site together, with parking available at the WI. See map of planting location in discussion.This project is funded by Tree Canada, and we are so grateful for their support!Please wear appropriate footwear, clothing and bring water. Shovels and gloves will be provided but bring your own if you would like! Registration is required, please use this link to sign up: https://forms.gle/5VwZyWHUNDew9nDP9This year's site is located in the buffer of the main branch of Anderson's Creek. TREC is currently transitioning the space into a community green space, including trails and planting.
