Opportunity Description:

Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event, with thousands of people across Canada coming together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of the 1 in 140 Canadians who live with these chronic diseases. This year, Gutsy Walk is on Sunday, June 4, 2023. The event location for 2023 is yet to be confirmed, but is not limited to Charlottetown or Summerside. It will be up to the committee to decide on a location. As a Gutsy Walk Committee Member, you’ll be working closely with a team of other volunteers to plan and promote your local virtual Gutsy Walk. Your efforts in connecting and engaging your community at a virtual level—whatever your volunteer role with Gutsy Walk—will make a big impact in raising awareness about IBD and finding cures. In particular, we’re looking for volunteers to support their local virtual Gutsy Walk in the following ways: Community Outreach –inspire people to sign-up and participate in our 26th Gutsy Walk Media Relations –connect with local media outlets to promote the Gutsy Walk Social Media –raise awareness about IBD and the Gutsy Walk through social media Fundraising –organize exciting virtual fundraisers in your community Corporate Sponsorship –engage with local businesses to promote donations of sponsorship and gifts in kind Stewardship –build relationships with Gutsy Walk participants and encourage engagement Time commitment: Approximately 4-8 hours a month, with flexibility around your schedule Attending a virtual monthly evening committee meeting by teleconference or online This role requires a commitment until post-event wrap up in June We’re looking for people who are eager to use their skills to help make our virtual Gusty Walk the best it can be.
