Opportunity Description:

Our registered charity celebrates its 45th year in 2024, stronger than ever! Our mission is the enhancement of the physical, emotional and social well-being of children and adults with disabilities through various forms of therapeutic riding. We are a nationally accredited therapeutic riding centre located in Hunter River, offering equestrian programs for health and recreation. We invite you to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team of volunteer board members and program leaders. Directors serve two-year terms, but we would appreciate a longer commitment for the treasurer position to provide stability. Board meetings are held monthly, except July, August and December, in Charlottetown. The AGM is held in May in Hunter River. We carry insurance, including Directors and Officers liability.  We have a high reputation in the community at large. We receive no government funding, but are strongly supported by grants and donations from funding agencies, service clubs, businesses, and individuals. We have an electronic donation site on CanadaHelps. A full audit was carried out in 2022. The Treasurer will be working with a Bookkeeper. The Treasurer’s responsibilities include: * Checking the mailbox * Processing incoming donation cheques (tax receipt/thank-you card) * Being a signatory * Presenting monthly financial statements at board meetings (prepared by Bookkeeper) * Presenting annual F/S at AGM (prepared by Bookkeeper) * Mailing out payment cheques (payments by e-transfer made by Bookkeeper) * Forwarding invoices to Bookkeeper for payment * Making recommendations to the Board on investments and other financial matters, as required.
