Hope Empowers began in 2022 by Patrick Ssenyonjo, who was a child from the slums. With 15 years' experience serving slum children through Raising Up Hope for Uganda, he saw a huge, unmet need to train older street boys with a skill - a 'last chance' opportunity to escape slum life. His vision was a 1-year program to get kids stabilized in a residential setting, teach a vocational skill and resettle them as productive members to their familial community. From here, Hope Empowers was born.
Our community outreach quickly found a need to minister to unwed, pregnant girls. The Esuubi (Hope) Program started in August 2022
