About Us
The Joyriders is a registered charity celebrating its 45th year in 2024, stronger than ever! Our mission is the enhancement of the physical, emotional and social well-being of children and adults with disabilities through various forms of therapeutic riding. We are a nationally accredited therapeutic riding centre located in Hunter River, offering equestrian programs for health and recreation.
Volunteer Opportunities
1 Openings
Are you interested in supporting our horseback riding programs for children and adults with disabilities? But perhaps you are beyond the frisky stage and need a more sedentary position? Come and join our dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer board of directors! We meet nine months of the year in Charlottetown, and at our AGM in Hunter River. We bring a variety of backgrounds to the board table (no horse experience necessary), but someone with fundraising experience would fit in well. Consistent attendance at board meetings important, and willingness to help on ad hoc committees and other service opportunities. We receive no government funding, so pursue grants from funding agencies, and are fortunate to be well supported by unsolicited donations from the community at large. For a great video of our riders in action, and lots of photos, visit our website at www.thejoyriders.ca and Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/thejoyriderspei. For more details, please contact Daphne Davey, President, at joyridersinfo2020@gmail.com.
