Education and Advocacy Fellowship Program

Description: Join the second cohort of the Results Canada Education and Advocacy Fellowship Program! It is a 12-month hands-on advocacy and leadership training program for volunteers that will develop their skills in generating the political will to end extreme poverty in low- and middle-income countries. It is open to individuals aged 18 years and older who are based in Canada. Learn more: https://resultscanada.ca/fellowship/    The Fellowship provides training and support to speak powerfully, engage with the media, speak directly with parliamentarians, and mobilize your community to make change.     Commitment: dedicate 4-6 hours per week to the curriculum, including a 90-minute call with other fellows each month.  Deadline: October 31, 2021. Community Awareness Volunteer

Description: PROGRAM OVERVIEW Help keep our communities and roadways safe. Raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving (alcohol and / or drugs). Distribute free promotional items (i.e., pencils, magnets, red ribbons, stickers, literature, resource materials, etc…) to community members at community events (i.e., health fairs, mall displays, school displays, restaurants / bars). COMMITMENT 6 months RESPONSIBILITIES: KEY TASKS / ACTIVITIES Attend community events (as requested). Educate community members / groups about the dangers of impaired driving; provide tips and talk about MADD Canada’s prevention and education programs (i.e., Project Red Ribbon campaign, School Assembly Program, Sobriety Checkpoints, etc.). Distribute free promotional items, literature and resource materials. Be knowledgeable about MADD Canada’s policies, programs and services. Promote the Chapter positively within your community. Event Coordinator

Description: OUR MISSION To stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime. PROGRAM OVERVIEW In partnership with the Director - Fundraising and Director - Education & Awareness (if applicable) help promote, deliver and assist with Chapter events. COMMITMENT Variable (depending on event dates). RESPONSIBILITIES: KEY TASKS / ACTIVITIES Raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving (alcohol and / or drugs). As a group, research and select a facility (i.e., park); select the date (please contact your Chapter Services Manager with the date and any details). Determine volunteer roles (i.e., ticket sales, registration desk, refreshments, etc. - work in partnership with the Director - Volunteer Resources and / or volunteer management committee to recruit volunteers.) Actively seek, investigate and promote opportunities to distribute and display event materials / information (i.e., newspapers, radio, website, brochures / registration forms, posters, stickers, etc…) within the community. Target local businesses, schools and various community groups. Encourage local businesses and groups to display and distribute event materials / resources (i.e., brochure stands and / or registration forms on counter tops, posters on bulletin boards, a blurb in a newsletter, etc.). Solicit donations from local businesses (i.e., sponsorships, products, etc.). Solicit and gather donations from local merchants for grab bags, prizes etc. Plan entertainment and guest speakers. Invite special guests and the media. Plan an interactive display area – display boards, free promotional items, literature and resource materials. Plan for safety. Keep a log of contact information for future campaigns. Take photos and cut out any newspaper clippings for reference purposes. Assist the Director - Media Relations (if applicable) with any local newspaper and / or radio partnerships. Help prepare blurbs, articles, conduct interviews, etc. Liaise with other MADD Canada Chapters - ideas, successes and lessons learned.
