Parkinson Canada Volunteer Opportunity Pedaling for Parkinson’s Maritimes Ride

Description: The Event Founded by Canadians for Canadians, Pedaling for Parkinson's invites cyclists to ride towards progress by funding research and raising awareness for Parkinson Canada. We are looking for people interested in making a difference to volunteer for our Pedaling for Parkinson’s Maritime ride in Summerside PEI. The Volunteers Your Contribution, your enthusiasm, and love for helping others makes you an ideal Pedaling for Parkinson’s volunteer. You are the type of person who would enjoy helping event participants and other volunteers excel at their tasks. There are many exciting roles to choose from the day of the event: Set up & Registration Food prep, Rest stops and route marshals, Dinner coordinator. Anything else that may come up. What is Needed to Succeed in this Role: Enjoys working as part of a team Positive and enthusiastic attitude. Able and comfortable to spend time outdoors (some roles) Possess an interest in working with Parkinson Canada and with Canadians living with Parkinson’s and their families.. The Opportunity As a volunteer for the Maritime Pedaling for Parkinson’s event, you will have the opportunity to develop new skills outside of regular employment. You will work with an excellent group of people and be able to network with others in a related field. Most importantly you will make an impact in the lives of those living with Parkinson’s. The event takes place September 23rd & 24th 2023. The window of volunteer time during those days is 7:30 am-7:00pm. Depending on your role you could be needed at various times throughout that time frame or days leading up to the event. Join ClimateScience as a Community Coordinator!

Description: WHAT DO WE DO? ClimateScience aims to empower people to make real long-term solutions to climate change actionable through climate education. We hope our way of covering solutions makes people excited to contribute to clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and other global-scale sustainability issues – beyond reusing their plastic bags. We believe education is the most powerful tool in the fight against climate change. POSITION Help fight against climate change by joining our team at ClimateScience! As a Community Coordinator, you would help recruit people to be a part of our team, actively participate in meetings and events, form partnerships with schools and organizations, and learn more about climate change through our website. You have the chance to gain new experiences and connections, opportunities to earn leadership positions, build your resume, and acquire skills, all while being part of a fun community! Oftentimes the first step is putting these issues on the radar — and keeping the pressure on. It might seem like a small step, but it all adds up into impact. commitment: 1 year minimum, 1-2 hours per week on average support structure: Volunteers (virtually) meet in local groups on a monthly basis and rely on their group leader(s) for guidance. Attending other virtual calls and webinars led by Results staff is recommended. Volunteers Needed for Gutsy Walk 2023

Description: Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event, with thousands of people across Canada coming together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of the 1 in 140 Canadians who live with these chronic diseases. This year, Gutsy Walk is on Sunday, June 4, 2023. The event location for 2023 is yet to be confirmed, but is not limited to Charlottetown or Summerside. It will be up to the committee to decide on a location. As a Gutsy Walk Committee Member, you’ll be working closely with a team of other volunteers to plan and promote your local virtual Gutsy Walk. Your efforts in connecting and engaging your community at a virtual level—whatever your volunteer role with Gutsy Walk—will make a big impact in raising awareness about IBD and finding cures. In particular, we’re looking for volunteers to support their local virtual Gutsy Walk in the following ways: Community Outreach –inspire people to sign-up and participate in our 26th Gutsy Walk Media Relations –connect with local media outlets to promote the Gutsy Walk Social Media –raise awareness about IBD and the Gutsy Walk through social media Fundraising –organize exciting virtual fundraisers in your community Corporate Sponsorship –engage with local businesses to promote donations of sponsorship and gifts in kind Stewardship –build relationships with Gutsy Walk participants and encourage engagement Time commitment: Approximately 4-8 hours a month, with flexibility around your schedule Attending a virtual monthly evening committee meeting by teleconference or online This role requires a commitment until post-event wrap up in June We’re looking for people who are eager to use their skills to help make our virtual Gusty Walk the best it can be. Front Desk Person/Greeter Volunteer Opportunity with DownStreet Dance

Description: Want to be part of a fun, casual, social dance community for adults on PEI? Do you have an hour and a half (or perhaps more) to spare each week? Come join DownStreet Dance’s team of passionate and dedicated volunteers and help the community take shape! We are looking for individuals to assist during classes and/or events, mostly in an administrative way. Responsibilities would include greeting students, keeping track of registrations, answering frequently asked questions, as well as tidying up afterward. Training will be provided. Various shifts available, starting at 1.5 hours. DownStreet Dance is located at 101 Grafton Street (upstairs) in Charlottetown. In exchange, desk volunteers are quite welcome to join the class they assist - for free! Classes may include: both old-school and modern Swing, various Latin styles such as Salsa Bachata, Merengue, and Argentine Tango, NY Hustle, Eastern dances like Belly dance and Iranian, Afro-Caribbean, Foxtrot and the Waltz, and PEI Step-dance, as well as Jazz, Ballet and Zumba. volunteer advocate - Game changers for achieving the Global Goals by 2030

Description: Results Canada is hosting a National Conference this spring! On May 6-7, we will come together to focus on the game changers that are needed to get us back on track to achieving the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. You will be able to connect with volunteers and partners, learn new skills through interactive workshops, and hear from advocacy champions from around the world so you can grow your own advocacy strength. Immediately following on May 8, you will have the opportunity to use your newly developed advocacy skills to meet with parliamentarians in a ‘Lobby Day’. Along with other volunteers in your area, we will support you to meet with Members of Parliament (MPs) and Senators to put your advocacy skills into action and advocate for global development.
